This is what distinguishes it from other problems with alignment and spacing between teeth. It is noticeable because the other gaps are narrow, relatively regular, and inconspicuous, and the teeth are correctly positioned on the dental arch. This type of defect can sometimes cause discomfort, especially if it is severe and located at the front of the teeth, for example between the two upper incisors\u2014what we call the \u201cpalettes.\u201d It should be noted that in some cases, it can also cause difficulty in pronouncing certain sounds. However, it is usually corrected for aesthetic reasons first and foremost.
